The Best Choice

How many decisions do you make in a day?  Hundreds, maybe thousands, maybe many thousands…?

Some of them are life critical.  Some of them are thoughtless. Yet, each one of them helps to determine who you are, what kind of a life you will have, and the impression you make on others.

When it comes to the choices you make every day and the number of people who want to influence those choices, there is no shortage. The average person makes approrximately 35,000 decisions daily. So, I’m going to suggest that you make one more.  This one may have an effect of all of the others. It’s very simple. CHOOSE TO BE NICE.

Your decision to do this is almost too simple to sound serious. Yet, how many times a day do you notice how you feel when someone is nice to you. It feels good, right? You can do this for other people. To help you with this, I suggest that you check out choosetobenice.com. You will find some of the most amazing people throughout the world who have made a promise to simply be nice. I’m doing my best to “be nice” and it is making a difference in me and people around me.

Try simply smiling at someone. Don’t be creepy about it.  Be nice about it. You’ll be surprised how many people will be nice enough to return that smile. Smiling is one of the simplest ways to “be nice”.

Imagine how different the world would be if smiling could be extended to the words you use and your tone of voice. Of the 35,000 decisions you make in a day, I’d be willing to bet that at least half of them would make you and others feel better if those choices were wrapped in some sort of nice expression like a smile or a pleasant greeting or a gracious thank you or the thousands of other ways you could choose to be nice.

Can you think of people who would be better if they would simply choose to be nice? Could this simple part of human behavior change the way people treat each other? Could this simple part of human behavior effect the way countries, companies, cultures get along? Could this simple thing change the world?  Maybe.

Check it out.
