As a speaker, Dr. Becker has appeared before hundreds of clubs and organizations, from local community groups to national associations. He’s been featured on radio and television programs as a guest expert or motivational speaker. He hosted a nationally syndicated radio series, called TALKING ABOUT TALKING, produced and hosted ELECTIONSPEAKERS.COM, and several audio and video communication learning compilations. Dr. Becker has also taught at both Harvard and MIT.
He has authored numerous books, many of which can be found on his Amazon author page. One of Dr. Becker’s greatest accomplishments is founding America’s oldest speech coaching and communication firm, and he’s extremely proud of his staff who have become his second family.
Dennis founded The Speech Improvement Company in 1964 with his wife, Dr. Paula Borkum Becker, establishing a new category of business – speech coaching. With over 60 years of experience, The Speech Improvement Company has trained and coached more than one million men and women all over the world. Clients range from large corporations to small companies, media personalities, politicians, professional athletes, entrepreneurs, business professionals, celebrities, and individuals.
Dennis was President of the Massachusetts Speech Association, President of The New England Speech Association, an active member of the Speech Association of America, the Speech Communication Association, and as Chairman of the Training and Development Division of the National Communication Association, he co-authored the national college and research textbook Best Practices for Communication Trainers and Consultants.
He is author of the only national book on communication style, Personal Communication Style. He has also co-authored Outwitting the Manipulator: Protecting Yourself in Real-Time. He is the co-founder of electionspeakers.com. Dr. Becker has also produced and hosted many radio-TV training series as well as co-hosting a weekly podcast on manipulation, which has followers worldwide.
