Dr. Paula Borkum Becker is a co-founder of THE SPEECH IMPROVEMENT COMPANY INC., a Boston-based firm specializing in communication training for professionals. For more than forty years, she has been an expert at helping business men and women worldwide to improve their communication skills. Her many areas of expertise include executive presentation coaching ,leadership & management communication, business English, communicating technical data to non technical listeners, and interpersonal skills development. Her coaching and consulting is especially helpful to her international clients whose native language is not English. She is also a member of the IPO/VC coaching team.
Dr. Becker’s clients include major corporations worldwide such as United Technologies, Carrier Corporation, Bain Capital, Fidelity Investments, Putnam Investments, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) UAE, Citizen's Bank, NEC Technologies, Genetics Institute, TJX Companies, Liberty Mutual, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard, and M.I.T.–where she conducted business communication coaching for more than fifteen years. Dr. Becker combines her personalized client-centered approach with a sense of humor and a warm, caring style. Clients benefit from her critical yet constructive coaching and consulting. She is able to provide assistance to her worldwide clients via face to face ,web, phone, and video conference.
Dr. Becker has authored several books that include Communicating Through Signing, a unique book on non-verbal communication, as well as a manual on how to prepare and conduct corporate breakfast seminars. She is a major contributor to the book No Fear of Speaking. She has authored the book entitled Speaking Skills for Business Careers, a number one college text, as well as two training books, Powerfull Presentations and Customer Service and The Telephone. She is currently working on her next publication.
Dr. Becker’s undergraduate degree is in Speech Pathology, Audiology and Speech Communication. Her Master's degree is in Business Communication and Administration, and her Ph.D. degree is in Business Communication. This specialized training allows her to be helpful to the most challenging needs of her clients worldwide. She is a valuable member of THE SPEECH IMPROVEMENT COMPANY, INC.
