My name is Courtney DeGeorge, I am a Teacher/Job Developer at the Just a Start: Futures for Young Parents Program. Our program is an alternative GED school for young pregnant or parenting teenagers. Part of our program goal is to provide our students with the "life skills" they need to succeed in the real world, following successful completion of their GED.

Ethan has consistently come to our facility to conduct workshops on these "life skills". He has covered topics on various skill sets which include: job interviews, communication, listening, teamwork, conflict resolution and professionalism. Ethan has been a particularly important asset to have available as our students respect his knowledge and enjoy his workshops. Ethan also deals with the frustration of having to return to groups that are mixed with students he has spoken to previously and ones that are completely new. He has a true skill for adjusting his programs accordingly as well as flowing with the mood of the group. There have been several occasions in which the group's particular questions/interests led Ethan on a different path than he may have originally intended. However, I believe he always enters our facility with this flexibility in mind. I truly believe his goal is to help our clients in the best way he can. He therefore never has a problem speaking to whatever needs they may have.

Ethan has always dealt with our students in a professional, calm manner even though they can be unpredictable at times. He has dealt with inter-class conflict, as well as lack of student motivation or attention, in respectful, effective ways. Our students consistently feedback that they enjoy having Ethan visit our program. In fact, they have nominated him in the past to be a guest speaker at our graduation!
